Dr. JoAnn Butrin’s missionary career began as a nurse in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Fourteen years later she joined the staff of HealthCare Ministries of Assemblies of God World Missions, and later was appointed director. Since 2005 her missionary career has continued as Director of AGWM International Ministries and serving on AGWM’s Executive Committee. She earned a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, specializing in nursing and community health. She lectures around the world on best practice in compassion ministries. Her latest book, From the Roots Up, is a new look at justice and compassion in missions.
